A detained robber was injured in firing by his accomplices during a police encounter in the area of Thikriwala.
He was detained and shifted to a hospital.
According to the police, ASI Saqib Ali lodged a report in Thikriwala police station that personnel were taking the suspected robber Shamshad from Denga Phatak to Sidhar when four men riding two motorcycles opened fire on the police to rescue him near a fuel station. As a result, a tyre of the official vehicle burst and it stopped, following which the attackers fled along with Shamshad.
Thikriwala SHO Shahid Awan reached the spot along with a police team and chased the robber and the attackers. The attackers opened fire on the police, and during an ensuing encounter at Sem Bridge, Shamshad who had escaped from custody was injured.
