Dr. Ali Akbar Dahri, Medical Superintendent (MS) of Liaquat University Hospital (Hyderabad & Jamshoro), formally recommended to Sindh Health Secretary Rehan Iqbal Baloch that legal and departmental proceedings be initiated against Dr. Jehanzeb Bhatti, a senior medical officer posted in the emergency department of Liaquat University Hospital, Jamshoro. The recommendation cited Dr. Bhatti’s failure to justify his unethical conduct after being summoned for an explanation.
Dr. Dahri called Dr. Bhatti to his Jamshoro office and sought a clarification from him. However, Dr. Bhatti reportedly failed to respond satisfactorily regarding the inappropriate posture while on duty and examining a female patient.
In his letter to the Health Secretary, Dr. Dahri stated that Dr. Bhatti was personally asked to explain his position but could not justify why he examined the patient in such an unprofessional manner, feet on the desk in a public space. The MS further wrote, “I believe Dr. Jehanzeb Bhatti has failed to clarify his position, and therefore, I recommend disciplinary action against him.”
Following the letter, the health secretary promptly ordered Dr. Bhatti’s transfer from Jamshoro to Civil Hospital Hyderabad.
