According to the authorities, the vehicle was en route from Toli Peer to Lasdanna when the accident occurred in a remote area. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Police officials stated that the remote location and darkness severely hampered rescue efforts. Emergency response teams were dispatched immediately after the incident was reported.
“The number of confirmed martyrs is five,” said a Bagh Police spokesperson. “However, it is too early to say how many others were in the vehicle. Investigations and verifications are ongoing.”
Authorities have not yet disclosed the total number of passengers or the exact cause of the crash, but a formal inquiry has been launched.
AJK Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq expressed deep sorrow over the loss of life in the accident. He directed the deputy commissioner and superintendent of police to reach the scene and ensure timely rescue and relief operations.
“All relevant administrative units have been instructed to carry out rescue operations without delay,” the prime minister’s office stated. Road accidents in mountainous areas of Azad Kashmir are not uncommon, especially on poorly lit routes with steep and narrow paths.
