One of the women is reported to be in critical condition. All injured were shifted to Holy Family Hospital (HFH).
The incident occurred at the house of Hussain Shah early morning. Rescue 1122 teams, police, and emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene. The fire was brought under control, and the injured were provided first aid before being transferred to the hospital.
The victims were identified as Atiqah Shiraz, 35, with 75% burns, Joria Adnan, 36, with 80% burns, Shiraz Hussain, 40, with 95% burns, Arya Adnan, 6, with 60% burns, Abdul Wasay, 4 years, with 55% burns, Fatima Shiraz, 6, with 65% burns, and Haya Shiraz, 4, with 60% burns.
According to Naseerabad police, the family reported that the explosion occurred when they turned on the lights in the morning, igniting gas that had accumulated overnight due to a leak.
It is worth noting that in many parts of Rawalpindi, gas supply is cut off at night and resumes in the morning, often resulting in dangerous gas accumulations inside homes.
