In a suspected case of honour killing, a police constable and a married woman were shot dead in the Bashigram area of the scenic Madain valley in Bahrain tehsil of Swat district. Both victims were reportedly close relatives.

According to Zahid Shah, Station House Officer (SHO) of Madain Police Station, the deceased were identified as Constable Nizam, son of Fazal Rabi, and a woman referred to as ‘N’. They were allegedly killed by Afzal Khan, the woman’s husband, on suspicion of an illicit relationship.

Following the incident, a heavy police contingent reached the scene, took the bodies into custody, and shifted them to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Madain. Initial investigations suggest that the motive behind the killing is believed to be “honour.”

Local residents described Constable Nizam as a soft-spoken, mild-natured young man who was stationed in Utror, Kalam.

Police officials confirmed that the suspect, Afzal Khan, has been arrested, and a thorough investigation is underway from all angles. Authorities assured that all facts related to the case will be made public soon.
