Colorful umbrellas, aroma of fish frying in hot oil, and a festive atmosphere mark new recreational spot which is all the rage on the social media.
The new culinary destination opened in Keamari has been designed to promote local cuisine, tourism, and cultural vibrancy in one of the oldest seaside districts of the metropolis.
The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation gave a makeover to one of the oldest haunts of fish lovers. The renovated fried fish lane was recently inaugurated by Mayor Murtaza Wahab.
The once dark and muddy lane now shines sparkling clean and is the talk of the town on the social media. Foodie vloggers are rushing to Keamari to record a video of piping fish coming out of hot oil.
Located at the Keamari boat jetty and near the Karachi Fish Harbour, the street offers both commercially caught fish and the ones by fishermen who go out in the sea in the morning and sell their catch in the evening.
Mackerel, pomfret, snappers, queen and emperor fish are the favourite fare of the majority of local diners who usually stick to fish and avoid other seafood like prawns, crabs and lobsters; squids are out of question.
People select their order, the fish are weighed and the buyer is explained the price of the ready meal. The diners then sit and wait for the fish to be dressed, fired and served steaming hot.
