Policeman booked for bribery

An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of Madina Town Police Station has been booked after an audio recording surfaced in which he was allegedly demanding a bribe from a rickshaw driver.

According to the police, the case was registered on the complaint of SHO Madina Town, Muzaffar Ali Khokhar. The report stated that ASI Ghulam Abbas, posted at the station, allegedly demanded a bribe from a rickshaw driver, bringing disrepute to the police department and exceeding his authority. The leaked audio clip went viral across several WhatsApp groups, prompting the City Police Officer (CPO) to take notice of the incident. The ASI was immediately suspended and a departmental inquiry was ordered.

Following the inquiry conducted by the SP Madina Town, the allegations were proven. Consequently, a case was registered against ASI Ghulam Abbas under Section 155C of the Police Order 2002, and efforts are under way to trace and arrest him.
