Speaking at the ceremony, Commissioner Ashfaq Chaudhry termed the establishment of WASA in Dera Ghazi Khan a “milestone initiative” aimed at providing clean drinking water and an effective drainage system.
He said the project would also help protect the environment and raise public awareness about sanitation. Praising the provincial government, he described WASA as a “significant gift” from Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to the people of the city. Sardar Jamal Khan Laghari also lauded CM Maryam Nawaz’s development agenda, noting that projects were being launched across Punjab without political bias.
He urged all political stakeholders to work together beyond party lines for the country’s progress. WASA Punjab DG Mian Tayyab Fareed said the agency would modernize water supply, drainage, and sanitation networks, helping to address longstanding urban problems in Dera Ghazi Khan.
MPA Hanif Khan Pitafi and WASA Managing Director Engineer Jawad Kaleem echoed these views, highlighting the Chief Minister’s vision of ensuring access to basic public services.
MNA Abdul Qadir Khan Khosa and WASA Punjab Director General Mian Tayyab Fareed were among the guests at the inauguration.
