Additional IG CTD Azaad Khan, along with DIG Ghulam Azfar Mahesar and SSP Irfan Ali Bahadur, briefed reporters on the case. Six suspects have been arrested and confessed to planning terror plots in Karachi, CTD officials said at a press conference at the Central Police Office.
According to officials, Abdul Rehman, 45, known locally for welfare work, was shot dead in Badin district’s Matli police station jurisdiction in May. The assailants fled after the attack. Investigators said CCTV footage and witnesses identified three suspects. Two were arrested, and the murder weapon and motorcycle used were recovered.
CTD stated that RAW had set up a safe house in Karachi and that the plot was masterminded by an agent named Sanjay Sanjeev Kumar, alias Fauji, based in a Gulf state. He allegedly recruited Salman and Arsalan of Sheikhupura, who then formed a gang with Muhammad Umair, Sajjad, Obaid, and Shakeel, with Umair leading the operation.
Officials said RAW provided significant funding for the attack, with money transfers traced through banks and other channels. A separate case under terror financing laws was registered.
Six suspects—Umair Asghar, Sajjad, Obaid, Shakeel, Arsalan, and Talha Umair—were arrested, and weapons, a motorcycle, and mobile phones were seized. Authorities said efforts were continuing to arrest other accomplices and facilitators.
