A division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Kamran Khan Mulakhail and Justice Ayub Khan Tareen heard the petition challenging alleged overbilling by the gas company. Senior OGRA representatives and SSGC officials appeared before the court and submitted their report.
Petitioner Syed Nazeer Agha Advocate informed the bench that the gas company had repeatedly violated the court’s June 23, 2024 order by issuing inflated bills, running into thousands and even hundreds of thousands of rupees to consumers in October. The court took strong exception to the violations, with the acting chief justice admonishing the officials and directing immediate compliance with its earlier order.
The bench subsequently returned the report, terming it inadequate, and instructed OGRA and the gas utility to submit a revised and comprehensive report at the next hearing on December 11.
During proceedings, the company’s billing in-charge, Muhammad Imran, assured the court that all bills containing excessive or erroneous charges would be corrected.
