The grant will be provided to the Patient Aid Foundation, allowing the purchase of modern equipment and essential facilities for the new building.
The upcoming facility will significantly expand JPMC’s emergency care capacity with 722 beds and 17 operating theatres, a major upgrade from the current emergency department, which has 224 beds.
The government expects the project to strengthen JPMC’s ability to handle increasing patient loads and improve response to critical care demands.
The grant is scheduled to be released in two equal instalments of $7.5 million during the 2026-27 and 2027-28 financial years. The funding approach will ensure steady progress while supporting long-term planning for hospital improvements.

The public-private partnership with the Patient Aid Foundation has already increased the hospital’s capacity from 1,100 beds to 2,208.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has said that the ongoing development projects, including the 12-storey Sardar Yasin Malik Medical Complex and a seven-storey officers’ ward, are expected to raise the total number of beds to 2,584 by the end of 2026.
He said, the expansion will not only improve emergency medical services but also provide much-needed financial relief for non-affording patients who rely on the province’s largest public healthcare facilities.
