Burke’s musical legacy goes far beyond his role in Blondie. He was known for collaborating with a range of iconic artists, including Eurythmics, The Ramones, Bob Dylan, Iggy Pop, Joan Jett, and many more. His diverse musical career spanned decades, and he was affectionately referred to as a “Rock & Roll survivalist.”

Joining Blondie shortly after its formation in 1975, Burke played a crucial role in the band’s development and success. He also helped recruit bassist Gary Valentine and played a key role in keeping the band together during its early struggles. During Blondie’s hiatus from 1982 to 1997, Burke drummed for The Ramones, adopting the name Elvis Ramone, and worked with other prominent bands like The Romantics.

In 2006, Burke was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame alongside his Blondie bandmates. He also performed with a variety of artists in the 2000s, including Nancy Sinatra and The Go-Go’s Kathy Valentine.

Blondie’s tribute concluded by extending condolences to Burke’s family, friends, and fans, noting that his legacy would live on through his music. The band requested privacy during this difficult time as they grieve the loss of their beloved drummer.
