In a statement on Thursday, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) advised telecom users to ensure responsible use of their SIMs and clarified that the registered subscriber would be held fully accountable for any misuse.
“Any SIM registered in the name of another individual and used by someone else is considered a violation of rules,” the authority said, adding that responsibility for unlawful use rests entirely with the registered user.

The PTA reminded subscribers to use only those SIMs that are registered in their own names and to ensure responsible use of their telecommunications connections. It said users would be individually liable for all calls, messages and data usage carried out through their SIMs or devices.
The regulator further stressed that compliance with all relevant rules and regulations is mandatory, warning that legal or administrative action could be initiated in cases of non-compliance.
The clarification comes amid ongoing efforts by authorities to curb illegal activities facilitated through unregistered or improperly used mobile connections.
