According to the traffic police, overloading of public transport vehicles, including carrying passengers beyond the permitted limit, will result in heavy fines for both drivers and vehicle owners. Driving without a valid driving licence, route permit or fitness certificate has also been declared a serious violation, carrying strict penalties.
The advisory states that motorists found driving motorcycles or cars without helmets or seat belts would be fined, while underage driving would lead to action against guardians in addition to the drivers. Overspeeding, wrong-side driving and the use of mobile phones while driving have also been included among punishable offences.
The traffic police further warned that vehicles with tinted windows, fancy number plates, pressure horns and unauthorized emergency lights would not be tolerated and violators would face fines as per law. Encroachments on roads, illegal parking and obstruction of traffic flow will also invite penalties. APP
