A police constable was martyred when terrorists opened fire on a joint patrol of police and local peace committee members in Bannu, while his funeral prayers were offered with full official honours on Wednesday.
Personnel from Township Police Station, Ahmadzai Police Station, and members of the local peace committee were carrying out routine patrolling in the area late Tuesday night when terrorists affiliated with the outlawed TTP launched a sudden attack. The exchange of fire continued for nearly 15 minutes.
Police personnel displayed exceptional courage and responded strongly to the attackers. However, Constable Saddam Hussain embraced martyrdom while gallantly performing his duty and fighting the terrorists.
