Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police have finalised foolproof security arrangements for Youm-e-Ali (RA), with more than 3,000 police officers and personnel deployed to ensure the safety of processions and religious gatherings in the federal capital.

An official said on Tuesday that comprehensive security arrangements had been made for processions and majalis on the occasion of Youm-e-Ali. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Muhammad Jawad Tariq said that participants would only be allowed to join the processions through designated routes after passing through walk-through gates, metal detectors and body search points.

He said that all streets and lanes falling along the procession routes had been sealed to ensure effective security.

The DIG added that snipers had been deployed on rooftops along the routes while special checking would also be carried out at all entry and exit points of the city.
