The Qasimabad police have registered a murder case against four individuals, including a local builder, in connection with the killing of Pakistan Peoples Party–Shaheed Bhutto (PPP-SB) leader Kashif Qaimkhani alias Baghi.

According to the FIR lodged by the victim’s brother Muhammad Asif, son of Jafar Ali Qaimkhani, he received a phone call from his cousins Kamran and Sadaqat at around 2:45pm on Friday, informing him that Kashif Baghi’s phone had been continuously switched off. When they reached his apartment on the third floor of Sindh Cottages Plaza in Qasimabad, they found the flat’s door open but Kashif was not there.

During the search, Kashif’s friend Waleed Farooqui was seen coming down from the fourth floor along with two unidentified accomplices, carrying weapons. According to the complainant, they told Kamran and Sadaqat that Kashif had been killed.

When they went upstairs to Farooqui’s apartment on the fourth floor, they found Kashif Baghi’s body lying there. He had been shot in the nose and the bullet exited from the back of his head.

The complainant further stated that a few days back Kashif Baghi had informed them about death threats allegedly issued by a local builder, Afaq, after Kashif had posted critical comments about him on social media. According to the FIR, Waleed Farooqui, allegedly acting on the instructions of Afaq, along with two unidentified accomplices, killed Kashif Baghi.

Police have registered the case and begun an investigation, but no arrests have been made so far.
