According to standards set by the Sindh government, fancy, fake and unregistered vehicles would face action, with traffic police targeting vehicles that do not have number plates.
Strict action was decided against those driving cars or motorcycles without number plates. The traffic police instructed that motorcyclists must have number plates installed on both the front and back.
Citizens who have not yet received official number plates from the Excise Department were advised to use number plates with the official government design.
The crackdown would involve personnel from the district police, traffic police, Citizens Police Liaison Committee, Excise Department and the Driving Licence Branch.
It was also decided that drivers without a licence would be issued a learner’s licence on the spot.
Owners of vehicles and motorcycles without number plates would be given 24 hours to get new number plates made, after which confiscated vehicles and motorcycles would be released without any fine.
