Robbers snatch Rs7m at gunpoint in Chakdara

In a daring daylight robbery, armed dacoits held a local trader hostage at gunpoint in Chakdara, severely beating him before snatching Rs7 million in cash.

According to Lower Dir police, the incident occurred when unidentified armed men targeted Khushal Khan. The robbers not only took away the huge amount but also subjected the victim to brutal violence, leaving him seriously injured. Khushal Khan is currently undergoing treatment at Chakdara Hospital.

Residents expressed widespread fear and panic following the incident, which has raised serious questions about the deteriorating law and order situation in the area. Incidents of theft and robbery have been on the rise in Chakdara, yet local administration and police appear to be mere silent spectators.

Local accused that protecting the lives and property of citizens is the primary responsibility of the state and law enforcement agencies, but they seem to be failing badly in fulfilling this duty.

Soon after receiving information, police reached the spot, registered an FIR, collected evidence, and launched an investigation.

Meanwhile, the traders’ community of Chakdara Bazaar has expressed deep concern over the increasing wave of robberies. They have given police a three-day deadline, warning that if the culprits are not arrested within three days, they will take to the streets in protest.
