Pakistan and China on Sunday reiterated their commitment to regional peace and stability while jointly opposing unilateralism and hegemonic policies.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Chinese Foreign Minister, to discuss the current regional situation.

The two leaders agreed to maintain close communication and coordination at all levels to advance their shared objectives of peace, security, and sustainable development, Pakistan’s Foreign Office said.

Dar categorically rejected India’s “unilateral and illegal actions” and dismissed what he described as “baseless propaganda” against Pakistan.

Expressing appreciation for China’s “consistent and unwavering support,” Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the two countries’ “iron-clad” friendship and their shared vision of an all-weather strategic cooperative partnership.

He also emphasised Pakistan’s determination to further deepen bilateral cooperation across all sectors.

The conversation comes amid heightened regional tensions following recent developments in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

Earlier this week, Pakistan warned that it would deliver a “firm, swift and decisive” response to any Indian aggression, after New Delhi unilaterally suspended the Indus Waters Treaty following a deadly attack in disputed Kashmir.

The April 22 assault in Pahalgam, IIOJK left 26 people dead, mostly tourists.

India responded by suspending the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty, closing its borders, downgrading diplomatic ties, and accusing Pakistan — without evidence — of cross-border terrorism support.

Pakistan has strongly denied any involvement and has threatened countermeasures, including placing the Simla Agreement in abeyance and closing its airspace to Indian flights.

In a Senate resolution, lawmakers stated that Pakistan “remains fully capable and prepared to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity against any aggression,” citing past military responses as precedent.

The Senate also warned that any Indian misadventure would be met with a decisive response, while reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace and support for Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.
