He expressed deep concern over the growing prevalence of synthetic drugs such as ice (methamphetamine) and “ghubeka,” warning that the situation demands urgent and effective countermeasures.
Speaking to media following his inspection of border checkpoints in the region, RPO Asif stated that areas such as Dara Tang, Jinnah Barrage, Chashma Barrage, Makarwal Police Station, Chahri, and Isakhel have been categorised as highly sensitive due to their vulnerability to both narcotics smuggling and terrorist infiltration.
He condemned the spread of misleading narratives following recent anti-terror operations in Makarwal, saying such comments demoralize police officers who risk their lives to combat terrorism and embolden anti-social elements.
“The operation in Makarwal against terrorists was of a highly dangerous nature. We are working closely with the local community and will ensure their full protection. With public cooperation, we are determined to eradicate terrorism from its roots,” he asserted.
RPO Shehzad Asif made these remarks during a public meeting (khuli kutchery), where he listened to citizens’ complaints and issued immediate directives for their resolution. District Police Officer (DPO) Captain (retd) Muhammad Ajmal accompanied him during the event.
The majority of public grievances submitted were related to motorcycle thefts, robberies, and property disputes.
SP Investigations Badr Munir, DSP Sadar Kamran Zahoor, and SHOs from relevant police stations were also present at the session.
RPO Shehzad Asif instructed all police officers and personnel to maintain respectful conduct with the public and to address citizens’ complaints with full attention and integrity.
