Multan Sultans won the toss and elected to bat against Peshawar Zalmi on Monday in a HBL Pakistan Super League season 10 match that holds contrasting significance for the two sides.

While Multan are already out of the playoff race, having secured just one win in eight matches this season, the match offers them a final opportunity to restore pride and perform for their home supporters. The team, led by Mohammad Rizwan, sits at the bottom of the table and is mathematically eliminated from contention.

Peshawar Zalmi, meanwhile, enter the match with everything to play for. Babar Azam’s side is hanging just outside the playoff positions and must win at least two of their remaining three games to keep their hopes alive. The pressure is mounting, but Zalmi can take heart from their recent form and historical edge over Multan.

Multan Sultans XI: Yasir Khan, Mohammad Rizwan (cap & wk), Shai Hope, Tayyab Tahir, Muhammad Amir Barki, Ashton Turner, Shahid Aziz, David Willey, Faisal Akram, Mohammad Hasnain, Ubaid Shah.
