According to the police, Sub-Inspector Ahmed Raza, stationed at Bahlak police station, led a team to Chak 607GB to arrest suspects Azhar Abbas Kacchi and Rauf in connection with several serious cases.
When the suspects saw the police, they opened indiscriminate fire, severely injuring Sub-Inspector Raza with multiple bullet wounds to his face and other parts of body. The official succumbed to his injuries en route to a hospital.
Upon receiving the news of the encounter, senior police officials reached the scene and continued pursuit of the suspects. In an ensuing exchange of fire, suspect Azhar Kacchi was killed.
Police officials including CPO Sahibzada Bilal Umar, SSP Operations Ammara Shirazi, and SP Sadar Division Tahir Kachhi attended funeral prayers for the martyr at the Police Lines and his village in Nishatabad.
In another incident, Inspector Hassan Siddique Cheema and his team carried out a raid in Bangewala to arrest a suspect in a case of terrorism, Gulfam Shah, resident of Khadyan Warchaan in Jaranwala.
During the raid, the police encountered four robbers blocking a road by felling trees to rob citizens. The suspects fired at the police upon seeing them. In the ensuing crossfire, Faisal alias Faisali, a suspect in 30 cases of robbery, was injured. He was shifted to the Jaranwala Civil Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The deceased had a record of robberies in various police stations of Toba Tek Singh, Kasur and Faisalabad districts and was also wanted for firing on and killing citizens during robberies.
