Suicide blast in Peshawar kills two policemen, injures three

A suicide bomber detonated explosives near a police vehicle in the Peshawar’s Ring Road on Sunday, killing two police officials and injuring three others. The attack occurred near the livestock market on Ring Road in the capital of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province, Express News reported.

“A suicide attacker blew himself up near a police mobile unit. A sub-inspector and a constable were later declared dead at the hospital,” said a Rescue 1122 spokesperson.

Police confirmed the blast was directed at the patrol vehicle. Emergency services and law enforcement personnel sealed off the area, while forensic teams began collecting evidence. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the suicide blast, offering tribute to the martyred police officers and expressing heartfelt sympathy and condolences to their families.

He stated that the police officers achieved the highest honour of martyrdom while performing their duties. He praised the K-P Police for their unmatched sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.

He further emphasised that the sacrifices of K-P Police officers would always be remembered, and expressed solidarity with the grieving families of the martyrs.

The provincial governor and CM also condemned the blast, paying tribute to the fallen police officers and extending condolences to their families.
