In a statement released Thursday night to TMZ, a representative for the 31-year-old singer said, “Although Justin is not among Sean Combs’ victims, there are individuals who were genuinely harmed by him. Shifting focus away from this reality detracts from the justice these victims rightfully deserve.”
Multiple sources close to the “Peaches” singer confirmed that Bieber was never sexually or otherwise abused by Combs, 61, despite their past professional relationship. Diddy was among the music executives who supported Bieber early in his career when he was just 15 years old.
The statement comes amid renewed attention on historic videos showing Diddy and a teenage Bieber together. In one such clip, Diddy says, “He’s with me for 48 hours, and what we’re doing cannot really be disclosed,” raising questions in light of the current trial.
Cassie Ventura, Diddy’s former partner, has already taken the stand and delivered emotional testimony alleging years of abuse.
Meanwhile, fans have expressed concern over Bieber’s recent appearance and erratic social media activity. However, Thursday’s statement aims to quell speculation and keep the spotlight on those directly impacted by the allegations against Combs.
Diddy’s trial continues in Manhattan federal court, where prosecutors are presenting evidence and witness testimony related to charges of sex trafficking and abuse spanning several years.
