LAKEWOOD, Wash. A shooting at a crowded park in Lakewood on Wednesday night left seven people injured, including three in critical condition, authorities said.

The shooting occurred just after 8 p.m. at Harry Todd Park on American Lake, according to the Lakewood Police Department. Sgt. Charles Porche said between 100 and 200 people were at the park when gunfire broke out.

West Pierce Fire & Rescue reported that five victims were transported to area hospitals by first responders, while two others were driven privately. The identities and ages of the victims have not yet been released.

Witnesses described a scene of panic and confusion. One woman, identified only as Jayde, told local media she had just arrived at the park with a friend and a baby when shots rang out.

“We were really scared and we had a baby with us,” she said. “There were families trying to duck their kids and hide behind trees.”

She described a person being shot just behind her as she reached for her phone. “Next thing you know, you hear everybody screaming, crying, parents saying, ‘Where’s my kids?’”

Police have not provided any information about possible suspects or a motive. No arrests had been made as of late Wednesday.
