Elon Musk ignited controversy on Thursday after claiming that U.S. President Donald Trump is mentioned in the unreleased Epstein files.

The Tesla and SpaceX CEO posted on X, formerly Twitter, that “@realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public.” The post, which has already been viewed over 10 million times, ended with a pointed sign-off: “Have a nice day, DJT!”

Time to drop the really big bomb:@realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public.

Musk’s statement refers to Justice Department records linked to Jeffrey Epstein, the late convicted sex offender accused of trafficking underage girls to high-profile individuals. Despite the gravity of the claim, Musk did not offer any proof or details on how he accessed the information.

The post marks a sharp turn in Musk’s relationship with Trump. Until last week, Musk served as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a controversial office established under Trump’s administration. DOGE became known for slashing federal jobs and reducing bureaucracy.

Following his departure, Musk criticized Trump’s tax-cut and spending bill, labeling it a “disgusting abomination.”

In response, Trump fired back on Truth Social, claiming he had asked Musk to resign. “He was wearing thin… he’s gone CRAZY!” Trump wrote.

Such an obvious lie. So sad. https://t.co/sOu9vqMVfX

The Justice Department has not commented on the authenticity of Musk’s claims. Journalists continue to investigate the matter as pressure grows for the full release of the Epstein files.
