Awami National Party leader Maulana Khan Zeb shot dead in Bajaur

Maulana Khan Zeb, a senior leader of the Awami National Party (ANP) and former National Assembly candidate from Bajaur, was tragically shot dead by unidentified assailants at Shindai Mor, just a few steps from the headquarters of Khar Tehsil, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday.

The attack also claimed the life of his police security officer, Sepahi Sher Zada, while three others sustained injuries in the incident. The injured individuals have been identified as Dr Tariq, Shahsawar, and Osman, all of whom are currently receiving medical treatment.

Sources indicate that Maulana Khan Zeb had been campaigning for the upcoming peace march, scheduled for July 13 in Bajaur, when the assailants opened fire on him. The gunmen fired indiscriminately, killing Maulana Khan Zeb and the police officer on the spot, while the three others were injured.

In response to the attack, ANP workers and local residents have taken to the streets, carrying the martyr’s coffin towards Khar Bazaar to stage a protest. The funeral for Maulana Khan Zeb will take place on Friday, July 11, at 11 AM in his native area of Nawagai.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the attack and are working to identify those responsible for the tragic incident.
