PTI long march reaches Karak after covering 80km from Lakki Marwat

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) long march launched from the southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa completed its first leg and is now planning its strategy for the next stages of its journey.

The march began from Gandi Chowk in Lakki Marwat district on Sunday evening and covered around 80 kilometres before reaching its first stop in Karak late at night.

People from Bannu, North Waziristan, South Waziristan, Lakki Marwat, Tank and nearby districts joined the first phase of the march.

Convoys from Dera Ismail Khan and Balochistan, travelling via Zhob, also joined the march at Yarik.

However, a convoy led by former chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur could not arrive on time.

A large camp had been set up at Jail Chowk in Karak, where protesters remained throughout the night.

Local police officials said the long march, led by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, was scheduled to leave Karak at noon, although the final departure time remained uncertain.

As part of security and administrative measures, mobile phone and mobile internet services have been completely suspended in Karak and surrounding areas.

According to the PTI schedule, people from Kohat, Hangu, Kurram and Orakzai districts will join the convoy on Tuesday, October 6.

The march will then proceed towards Peshawar and spend the night at Matani, around 30 kilometres from Peshawar city.
