The notification issued by NEPRA for the quarterly adjustment specifies that the price reduction will apply for the period from October to December 2024, Express News reported.
The price reduction will take effect for all electricity distribution companies, including K-Electric, for three months, from April to June 2025, providing relief amounting to approximately Rs56.38 billion to consumers.
However, the price reduction will not apply to lifeline and prepaid customers. NEPRA clarified that distribution companies had requested the quarterly adjustment to lower electricity prices, leading to a hearing and the subsequent reduction in monthly fuel price adjustments across the country.
For Karachi consumers, electricity will be Rs3.02 per unit cheaper, while the rest of the country will see a reduction of Rs1.90 per unit.
In separate notifications for monthly adjustments, NEPRA stated that the price relief would begin to reflect on consumers’ April bills.
For K-Electric customers, the price cut is based on January 2025’s monthly adjustment, while for other parts of the country, the price reduction is tied to February 2025’s adjustment.
