PCB chairman becomes head of Asian Cricket Council

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi officially assumed the role of President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) on Thursday, succeeding Shammi Silva, the President of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), the regional cricket body announced in a statement.

In his remarks, Naqvi expressed his honour in taking on the position. “I am deeply honoured to assume the presidency of the Asian Cricket Council,” he said.

“Asia remains the heartbeat of world cricket, and I am committed to working with all member boards to accelerate the game’s growth and global influence. Together, we will unlock new opportunities, foster greater collaboration, and take Asian cricket to unprecedented heights,” he added.

Naqvi also took the opportunity to thank the outgoing ACC president for his leadership during his tenure.

Silva, reflecting on his time as president, acknowledged the significant achievements under the ACC’s guidance. “It has been a privilege to serve as President of the Asian Cricket Council. The steadfast commitment of our member boards has been pivotal in elevating the ACC’s stature across the region,” Silva said.

Naqvi, who is currently serving as the Interior Minister, has been leading the PCB since February, 2024.
