Body of Saudi-based man abducted in Karachi found, suspect confesses

Police have recovered the body of Zainul Abideen, a young man living in Saudi Arabia who was allegedly abducted from Karachi’s Steel Town area, while a suspect, identified as Faisal, has reportedly confessed to the crime during interrogation, according to sources.

The body was found stuffed in a sack and dumped at an isolated location, sources said.

Zainul Abideen, who worked as a tailor in Saudi Arabia, had returned to Karachi to visit his parents.

According to his father, he left home on a motorcycle on October 14 but did not return.

After an unsuccessful search, the family registered a case at the Steel Town police station, alleging that he had been abducted.

The victim’s father had alleged that the kidnappers contacted the family by phone and demanded Rs700,000 in ransom, instructing them to bring the money to a specified location. The family reached the designated spot, but no one arrived, he said.

He also claimed that his son’s slippers and mobile phone were later left outside their home and that the family received threats to kill the young man.

Earlier, police said a severed human hand had been recovered and sent for DNA testing. It remains unclear whether the recovered hand is linked to Zainul Abideen.
