All individuals under investigation have also submitted their formal defences. A five-member high-level inquiry committee will now issue its decision. Should the allegations be substantiated, sanctions could include dismissal from service, fines, and confiscation of assets.
According to reports, the Ministry of Defence inquiry committee — led by AS-I and comprising two Joint Secretaries, a Section Officer, and the Director of Headquarters (MLC Department) — conducted proceedings concerning allegations that the former Assistant Secretary had collected funds from employees, delivered money to senior officers, and engaged in corrupt practices in the course of official duties.
The inquiry committee is now finalising its proceedings and will submit its findings to the competent authority.
