In this regard, the four regional directors of the health department have been instructed to provide details on the reallocation of unused medical equipment and supplies in the hospitals within their respective districts.
A final report on the matter is to be submitted to the health department by April 8. Official letters have been sent to the regional health directors of Central, Hazara, North, and South regions, directing them to submit a plan for the redistribution of all unused or surplus equipment.
They are also required to report the number of patients treated in OPDs during the last quarter, and the specialized services provided in specialized units during the same period.
All surplus equipment in hospitals or medical centers facing shortages will be reassigned accordingly.
Additionally, information regarding space constraints, issues related to equipment repair, and untrained staff handling the equipment must also be provided.
It has been made clear that the report must be submitted by the specified deadline of April 8, failing which action will be taken under the M&D Rules.
It has been reported that there are clear instructions from the chief minister regarding this matter. Earlier, a complete assessment of all hospitals was conducted through the Independent Monitoring Unit (IMU).
Based on these assessments, a comprehensive plan will be proposed regarding unused medical equipment.
Hospitals holding unused equipment must transfer it to facilities in need.
Sources indicated that in some cases, equipment was procured without any relevant specialty or requirement, and such equipment will now be reallocated to hospitals or medical centers where the required specialties or units are available.
