Finn Allen smashed 53 off just 25 balls, including several boundaries, before being dismissed at the end of the seventh over with the score at 88/1.
Following his departure, skipper Saud Shakeel continued the momentum, batting on 39 off 22 balls with six fours and a six at a strike rate of 177.27. Hasan Nawaz, supporting from the other end, was unbeaten on 11 from seven deliveries.
Zalmi’s bowlers struggled to contain the flow of runs early on. Alzarri Joseph conceded 26 runs in just 1.4 overs, including two fours and two sixes, at an economy rate of 15.60. Hussain Talat bowled a single over for eight runs.
Both Peshawar and Quetta feature balanced squads with a blend of youth and experience. Peshawar Zalmi will be led by former Pakistan national captain Babar Azam and includes players like Saim Ayub and Alzarri Joseph.

The second match of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025, being held at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Saturday, marks the first appearance of both teams in this year’s tournament, which runs from April 11 to May 18.
The 2025 edition of the PSL carries added significance as it follows the high-profile Champions Trophy tournament, which drew international attention to Pakistan’s cricketing infrastructure and crowd enthusiasm.
The match follows an impressive start to the HBL PSL X campaign by defending champions Islamabad United, who defeated Lahore Qalandars by eight wickets on Friday in Rawalpindi.
Chasing 140, United recovered from an early blow—USA’s Andries Gous bowled by veteran spinner Asif Afridi—thanks to a stabilising 55-run partnership between Sahibzada Farhan and New Zealand’s Colin Munro, pushing the score to 63 and setting the tone for a comfortable win.
