First phase of college privatisation begins

After the completion of privatization of 14,580 government schools, the first phase of college privatization has also begun. In the first phase, 71 colleges across the province have been included, and the process has been initiated through the issuance of tenders.

Ten associate colleges from Rawalpindi Division have been included in the first phase. The second phase of college privatisation will begin in May-June and will include 100 associate colleges.

The colleges included are Government Associate Girls College Phagwari Murree, Government Associate Girls College Kotli Sattian, Associate Boys College Kotli Sattian, Associate Girls College Dhoke Ilahi Bakhsh Rawalpindi, Associate College Taxila, and Government Associate College Chak Beli Khan.

Government Associate College Manghot Rawalpindi, Government Associate Girls College Lawa District Chakwal, Government Associate Girls College Dhranal Chakwal, and Government Associate Boys College Taranda Chakwal are also included.

Principals and teachers of these colleges have been informed. The privatisation of all 71 colleges will be completed in March.

Admissions for the new academic year will be conducted by private owners from September 1. Professors, lecturers and non-teaching staff currently serving in these colleges will be transferred to other colleges and offices in phases.

The Professors and Lecturers Association has condemned the decision. Under another decision, all government commerce colleges across Punjab will also be fully privatised, and steps in this regard have been initiated.
