PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari lauded Pakistani women for their bravery, resilience, and invaluable contributions to society. “The true measure of a society’s progress is how much respect, freedom, and opportunity it grants its women,” he said in a statement from the Bilawal House media cell.
Bilawal highlighted that the struggle for women’s rights is part of a broader pursuit of democracy, equality, and social justice. He recalled the legacy of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, the first female Prime Minister in the Islamic world, as an enduring inspiration for new generations to break barriers, confront challenges, and lead with courage.
He underscored PPP’s practical achievements in empowering women, from providing leadership positions such as Speaker, Deputy Speaker, and Foreign Minister, to pioneering legislation that criminalized workplace harassment and crimes against women.
He noted that PPP governments have been working on empowering women by allocating land to landless women farmers.
