The attack occurred around 6:30 p.m. local time. According to the Jalisco State Attorney General’s Office, a man entered the salon, asked for Márquez by name, confirmed her identity, and then shot her in the chest and head before fleeing the scene on a motorcycle. The livestream was interrupted by a friend present at the location.
Hours prior to the incident, Márquez had posted concerns on social media about receiving unsettling deliveries and threatening messages. She had expressed unease and mentioned wanting to leave the salon.
Originally from Guadalajara, Márquez had a significant online presence with more than 90,000 TikTok followers and over 73,000 on Instagram, where she posted beauty tips, lifestyle content, and humour. She gained wider recognition after being crowned Miss Rostro in 2021. Aside from her digital influence, she owned and promoted her beauty salon actively.
Her death has stirred an outpouring of grief across social media, with followers, friends, and fellow influencers expressing sorrow and calling for justice. The case has reignited discussions around violence against women in Mexico, particularly femicide—defined in Mexican law as the killing of a woman because of her gender.
The Jalisco Attorney General’s Office has launched an investigation under the femicide protocol. No suspects have been detained, and the motive remains unclear. Authorities continue to collect evidence and testimonies to identify the perpetrator.
