The incident, which occurred around 3:00 PM local time, has left several others injured.
The accident unfolded in the school’s rear parking lot, where the driver of a green Rivian SUV was picking up her younger sister. In the carpool lane, she rear-ended a white SUV, causing a chain reaction.
As the young student was walking between the vehicles, he was caught and crushed between the two SUVs.
Speaking to local media, Lieutenant Matthew Bielski of the LAPD revealed the 15-year-old was heading towards a vehicle to be picked up by his father, who was reportedly at the scene at the time.
Lindsey Horvath, Superviser in the LA County Board of Supervisers, shared her support to the affected victims on X (formerly Twitter).

The student was swiftly transported to a local hospital, but despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead from his injuries.
The mayor’s crisis response team was deployed to assist those affected, including students and parents at the hospital. “They’re providing support to the families at this incredibly difficult time,” said Captain Adam van Gerpen of the LAFD.
LAFD also confirmed in an official statement that five other individuals sustained minor injuries due to the chain reaction of fender benders, but were able to walk away from the scene.
Although some conflicting reports emerged regarding the cause of the initial crash, police have stated that the incident was purely accidental. “Since it was determined to be an accident, there won’t be any citations given,” said Bielski.

In response to the tragedy, Campbell Hall has cancelled all classes and finals.
As of now, authorities have not released the names of the individuals involved. The community continues to process the devastating loss, with many coming together in mourning.
For those affected, the campus will be open for reflection and grief support in the coming days.
