Brad Pitt made an appearance at the New York City premiere of his upcoming film F1, where he opened up about his experience behind the wheel and reflected on this chapter of his life.

Speaking with Extra’s Mona Kosar Abdi, Pitt shared that his current buzz cut is tied to a role he just completed. “I did a job. I just came off a movie and it was for the character,” he said.

In F1, Pitt plays a veteran driver returning to the sport alongside newcomer Damson Idris. The role required Pitt to drive high-performance vehicles on racetracks — an experience he found surprisingly meditative. “There’s this strange calm that happens in the car and this total focus and presence that I’ve never experienced from anything else,” he revealed.

While the racetrack brings peace, the actor admitted his real-life driving style could use some work. “I’m one of those that feels like I’m always on the racetrack and I need to, like, chill,” Pitt joked. “That’s this year — just trying to chill. Enjoy the sides, don’t sweat the traffic. I’m not doing very well, by the way.”

The film also leans into humor, including lighthearted jabs at Pitt’s age, which he embraces. Reflecting on his career, he said, “I really enjoy it, but I so enjoy what other people are doing… it’s less of a hunt and more of an appreciation.”

F1 speeds into theaters on June 27.
