Pakistan protests India over killing of two civilians in BSF firing

Pakistan on Saturday lodged a strong protest with India over the killing of two Pakistani civilians in firing by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) in the Bedian sector.

According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, India’s acting high commissioner was summoned to the Foreign Office, where Pakistan’s strong protest over the incident was conveyed.

The Foreign Office said that on October 2, BSF personnel resorted to unprovoked lethal force against two unarmed Pakistani civilians in the Bedian sector, killing both of them.

It described the incident as a serious violation of fundamental human rights and called on India to conduct an immediate and transparent investigation and take legal action against the personnel responsible.

Pakistan also demanded that India share the findings of the investigation with the Pakistani government.

The acting high commissioner was told that India must fully adhere to bilateral border protocols and take effective measures to prevent such incidents in the future.

The Foreign Office also rejected attempts to portray the two deceased civilians as “infiltrators” and called for respect for fundamental human rights, the right to life and international law.

According to security sources, three Pakistani civilians were fired upon by Indian BSF personnel near the Pakistan-India international border in Kasur on Friday. Two were killed, and one was injured.
