PTI long march enters Peshawar, next strategy to be unveiled in Swabi

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) long march, which began on October 4, has entered Peshawar from Khyber district, as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi said the party would announce its next strategy after reaching Swabi.

According to sources, the protest march will resume from the Hayatabad Toll Plaza in Tehsil Pushtakhara at noon and pass through various parts of the city, including Bhana Mari Chungi Chowk, Kohati Chowk, Jameel Chowk, Pir Zakori Bridge and Kabutar Chowk, before reaching Charsadda Road between 8.30pm and 9pm.

The march will resume from Charsadda Road the following morning and proceed into Charsadda district.

Ahead of the march, several private educational institutions in Peshawar have announced that their schools will remain closed.

School administrations informed parents by phone on Wednesday evening about the decision.

There has been no information about the closure of government schools.

Mobile phone services have also reportedly been affected in different parts of the city, although authorities have neither officially confirmed nor denied the reports.

Addressing march participants at the historic Bara Bazaar in Khyber district, Chief Minister Afridi said the PTI would announce its final strategy once the march reached Swabi.

Afridi said the plan for the next stages of the march was being kept secret for now, which he claimed had left the opposition worried.

The chief minister claimed that a large public gathering in Swabi would mark the beginning of a new political phase.

He also assured participants that the long march would remain completely peaceful and that its participants would not engage in any unconstitutional or illegal activities.
