Security tightened around Adiala Jail after emergency in KP

As part of security measures, authorities on Sunday strengthened security at Adiala Jail and its surrounding areas in Rawalpindi following the imposition of an emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

PTI founder and former prime minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi are serving their jail sentences at the facility.

According to police sources, additional personnel have been deployed within a six-kilometre radius of the jail, while the anti-riot force has also been stationed to deal with any potential situation.

The sources said eight new checkpoints would be set up along Adiala Road, where vehicles would be searched and citizens’ identity cards checked.

Police have advised residents of Adiala Road and surrounding areas to carry their national identity cards to avoid any inconvenience.

The district administration has already imposed Section 144 in the area until November 8.
