Karachi man allegedly abducted, kidnappers demand Rs700,000 ransom
Police have registered a case over the alleged abduction of Zainul Abideen, a young man living in Saudi Arabia who had returned to Karachi to visit his parents, after his family claimed that kidnappers demanded Rs700,000 in ransom and threatened to kill him.
According to the victim’s father, Zainul Abideen, who works as a tailor in Saudi Arabia, left home on a motorcycle on October 14 but did not return.
After searching for him without success, the family registered a case at the Steel Town police station, alleging that he had been abducted.
The father said the alleged kidnappers later contacted the family by phone and demanded Rs700,000, instructing them to bring the money to a specified location.
The family reached the designated spot, but no one showed up, he said.
He further alleged that the kidnappers left his son’s slippers and mobile phone outside the family home. The family was now receiving threats that the young man would be killed, he added.
Meanwhile, police said a severed human hand had been recovered and sent for DNA testing. However, they said no link had yet been established between the recovered remains and the missing man.
