10 children suffer burn injuries after school van crashes, catches fire in Murree

Ten children suffered burn injuries after a school van crashed near the Bara Hotar area in Murree and caught fire, according to Rescue 1122 officials on Tuesday.

The van went off the road and fell down a slope before suddenly catching fire.

Rescue teams reached the scene, pulled the children from the vehicle and shifted the injured to Civil Hospital Murree.

The Murree deputy commissioner said all the injured children were out of danger, while some were being shifted to Holy Family Hospital for further treatment.

According to a media report, 11 people injured in the accident were brought to hospital.

Eight people, including children, were in stable condition, while three children were referred for further treatment, the report added.

The report said the fire was allegedly caused by a battery spark, while the van did not have a fire extinguisher at the time of the accident.
