Petrol, diesel prices cut for third straight day
The federal government has reduced the price of petrol by 14 paise per litre and high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs1.89 per litre for October 1, according to a notification issued by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) on Wednesday.
The price of petrol has been set at Rs387.40 per litre, down from Rs387.54, while diesel will now cost Rs400.35 per litre, compared with Rs402.24 previously.
The Petroleum Division said OGRA determined the revised ex-depot prices under the petroleum pricing mechanism approved by the federal government.
The division attributed the adjustment to developments in the global market, including changes in Platts rates, premiums and incidentals.
The revised prices will be effective for October 1, 2026, under the government’s petroleum pricing mechanism.
Third consecutive reduction
The latest adjustment marks the third consecutive reduction in petroleum prices.
On Tuesday, the government cut the price of petrol by Rs1.49 per litre and HSD by Rs2.73, bringing their prices to Rs387.54 and Rs402.24, respectively, for September 30.
In the previous review announced on Monday, petrol was reduced by Rs2.27 per litre to Rs389.03, while diesel was cut by Rs3.56 to Rs404.97 per litre.
The three successive reviews have brought the cumulative reduction to Rs3.90 per litre for petrol and Rs8.18 per litre for diesel.
