Azerbaijani woman stays in Pakistan to pursue alleged gang rape case
A 20-year-old Azerbaijani woman who was allegedly gang-raped in Lahore has decided to remain in Pakistan and pursue the case instead of returning home, sources said on Saturday.
The woman arrived at Lahore airport to return to Azerbaijan and completed check-in and immigration formalities before boarding the flight.
However, she later decided to disembark and stay in Pakistan to seek justice and pursue the case, the sources said.
The Lahore police have arrested one suspect in connection with the alleged gang rape, DIG Investigations Zeeshan Raza said.
Police said special teams were conducting raids at various locations to arrest two other unidentified suspects named in the case.
The woman has also recorded her statement before a magistrate under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
