According to a report by Chris Byfield for LADbible, ‘Good Hang’ is a light-hearted series where Poehler chats with celebrities and friends about shared experiences and what makes them laugh. Her first guests include fellow comedians Tina Fey and Martin Short, both former ‘Saturday Night Live’ cast members and longtime collaborators.
Despite its recent launch, Poehler’s podcast has surpassed Rogan’s popular program, which has led the Spotify charts for years. Rogan’s show, known for its long-form interviews and controversial commentary, now ranks second in the comedy podcast category, ahead of shows hosted by Theo Von, Alex Cooper (‘Call Her Daddy’), and Matt and Shane.
Across all podcast genres, ‘Good Hang’ holds the top spot, followed by Mel Robbins’ podcast in second and Rogan’s in third. Rounding out the top five are MeidasTouch and The Martyr Made podcast.
Poehler has emphasized that the podcast isn’t about self-improvement or advice but is simply a space to unwind. On a recent appearance on ‘The Tonight Show,’ she explained, “I want to hang out with my buddies and have a good time and a good laugh.”
While Rogan has previously been unseated temporarily by other shows, Poehler’s quick rise with only two episodes shows there’s a big appetite for fun, celebrity-filled conversations that don’t take themselves too seriously.
