Govt raises petrol price, cuts diesel rate for October 15

The government on Wednesday increased the price of petrol by Rs1.20 to Rs393.86 per litre while reducing the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) by 17 paise to Rs396.65 per litre, effective Thursday, October 15, 2026.

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) revised the ex-depot prices of petroleum products under the federal government’s petroleum pricing mechanism, according to a press release issued by the Petroleum Division.

Petrol was previously priced at Rs392.66 per litre, while diesel cost Rs396.82 per litre.

The Petroleum Division said the revision was necessitated by developments in the international market, including movements in Platts rates, premiums and incidentals.

On Tuesday, the government had reduced the price of petrol by Rs2.71 to Rs392.66 per litre and cut the price of high-speed diesel by three paisa to Rs396.82 per litre.

Oil prices steady in global market

Meanwhile, international oil prices steadied on Wednesday after rising amid reports of an attack on the headquarters of Saudi Arabia’s state-owned oil company and Iranian comments about new tactics to target ships and keep oil prices elevated to influence the US midterm elections.

Brent crude futures rose 13 cents to $105.56 a barrel by 1325 GMT, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude gained $1.25, or 1.33%, to $95.39, its highest level in more than two weeks.
