Former army chief General Abdul Waheed Kakar passes away

Former chief of army staff General (retd) Abdul Waheed Kakar died in Rawalpindi on Monday, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and all ranks of the Pakistan Army expressed deep grief over his death, paying tribute to the late General’s distinguished military career, leadership and invaluable services to the army.

“Pakistan Army shares the grief of the bereaved family and offers its heartfelt condolences. May Allah Almighty grant the departed soul the highest place in Jannah and give the family strength and patience. Ameen,” an ISPR statement said.

President Asif Ali Zardari also expressed grief over Gen Kakar’s death, extending condolences to his family and praying for the departed soul and for patience for the bereaved.
